Electrolytes
Heavy sweating during work, travel, or hot-climate turnout depletes sodium, potassium, chloride, and other electrolytes faster than plain water intake alone can replace them, and a horse running an electrolyte deficit will fatigue earlier, cramp more readily, and recover slower even if its overall fitness is good. Electrolyte products in this category are formulated to replace what's lost through sweat and support normal hydration, muscle function, and post-exercise recovery, which matters particularly in the UAE's climate where sweat losses can be significant even during moderate work. These are typically used around exercise or travel — added to feed or water in the hours before, during, or immediately after exertion — rather than as a constant daily supplement, since a horse not sweating heavily has little need for extra electrolyte load. Getting the timing right matters more here than with most other categories: electrolytes given well ahead of a demanding session support pre-loading, while post-exercise dosing focuses on faster rehydration and recovery.
